Wineries in Shelby County, AL

The wineries in Shelby County are some of the best in the region, offering unique and delicious wines that cater to a range of palates.

Corbin Farms Winery

Corbin Farms is an awesome winery that was founded in 2005 and is located in Calera, Alabama. Since 2017, it’s been owned and managed by the Corbin family, who are all about providing the best products and experiences for their customers. The owners, Gary, Matt, and Carley Corbin, are super passionate about creating a positive company and community culture.

At Corbin Farms, they’re all about producing the best vinifera wines, like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and more. They partner with top American vineyards to get the highest quality grapes and make all their wines right there in Alabama — from fermentation to bottling. They even offer a selection of local fruit wines, including muscadine, peach, pear, and more.

Ozan Vineyard, Winery, and Spirits

Ozan Winery started in 2001 and has grown to include more vineyards, a tasting room, a distillery, and a cafe. When you visit, you’ll see lots of friendly folks enjoying wine, cheese, and maybe even a cocktail or two. You can just hang out and taste the delicious wine and spirits, or if you’re into wine and cheese pairings, they’ve got you covered.

On weekends, they have things like morning brunch, wine by the railroad tracks, and keepsake wine flights. But here’s the really cool part: you can book a ticket on the Ozan Wine Train for the ultimate experience. How awesome is that?! And if you’re planning a big event like a wedding, Ozan can even be booked for that too.

Cat-N-Bird Winery

Cat-N-Bird Winery doesn’t have its own vineyard, but that’s actually a good thing because it means they can import grapes and juice from vineyards all over the world. That way, they have an amazing selection of international wines, from Italian Amarone to Australian Cabernet Sauvignon. Sorry, though – no Muscadine here.

If you want to get to know their wines, the process, and the people who make it all happen, we highly recommend stopping by for a tasting and maybe even trying one of their cheese pairings.

Oh, and if you’re looking for a great place to host an event like a shower, wedding, or party, the event space is perfect for that too!

Lewis Lakes Vineyard

Lewis Lakes Vineyards has a simple business model: “Everything we do is strictly Alabama.” As a family-owned enterprise, they take pride in every step of their wine-making process being homegrown in Alabama. From planting and nurturing the vines to harvesting and fermenting the grapes, Lewis Lakes Vineyard keeps it all local.

And, of course, their wines are sold exclusively at their Alabama winery, which you can find on their 60-acre farm just one and a half miles north of the Shelby County Courthouse on Highway 47.

Morgan Creek Vineyards and Winery

Morgan Creek Vineyards and Winery has been around for a while now. In 2001, they produced around 600 cases of wine, but by 2007 they were making 15,000 cases, which they sold in 400 stores all over Alabama, including big grocery chains and wine shops.

They’ve definitely found a unique niche in the wine market. They specialize in muscadine and fruit wines that are semi-sweet to sweetish. You won’t find a Chardonnay or Pinot Noir here. Instead, you will find something that is really local to the area.
