Growth

Westover, like its western neighbor, the City of Chelsea has extensive growth potential from scenic rolling wooded hills for continued residential development to the busy U.S. Highway 280 corridor for vast commercial development potential.

The incorporation of Westover was decided on by the citizens to maintain its identity and for its residents to have the opportunity to benefit from the US HWY 280 corridor. The comprehensive plan, adopted in 2002, carefully allowed for the continuation of the Old Town, Rural community along with managed growth along the 280 corridor.

Westover has had new residential subdivisions built, including Willow Oaks, The Villages of Westover and Carden Crest. These new subdivisions have served to allow residential housing available in many sizes and styles.

Professional development and services have evolved in the course of the past 15 years, to include a municipal fire department, building inspections, permitting, and code adoption targeting the health, safety, and welfare of all the citizens of the community.

There have been many other positive accomplishments such as the City Library, The Westover Seniors’ activities, Music in the Park, Westover Fields at the Park, the Westover community storm shelter, area storm warning sites, the Christmas parade, and participation in the Westover Business Alliance to be continued and built upon, to enhance the future of the City.

Westover is served by The Shelby County Chamber.
