Will Davis Captures the third Alabama BASS Nation Tournament Qualifier

Will Davis from near Childersburg, Alabama brought in 20.33 limit of bass and topped the 62 boat field for the win.
Another Lay Lake veteran, Coby Carden from Shelby, Alabama placed second with a 18.82 total.
At least six bass were caught over six pounds and Rickie Harp of Lake Tuscaloosa Bassmasters caught the Academy Sports Outdoors Big Fish with a 6.96 pounder.

Shelton State Captures ACCC Softball Title

Number one seed Shelton State Community College used a six-run sixth inning against Wallace Dothan to win the Alabama Community College Conference  women's softball championship at  Veteran's Park in Alabaster on Monday after rain delayed the completion of the tournament.

Cahaba River Park Ribbon Cutting Marks Official Opening of Park

Officials from the State, County, Alabama Forever Wild Land Trust and several local High School Mountain Bike Teams were on hand for the official ribbon cutting of Cahaba River Park in Helena on Monday, August 22.

Park features more than 12 miles of single track and more than 5 miles of double track hiking and biking trails, restroom and pavilion facilities, and endless opportunities to enjoy unique views of the treasured Cahaba River.

With the ribbon cutting, residents and guests to the area will have unencumbered access to some of Alabama's most unique and beautiful natural resources.
